Leia

1 year old, 37 lbs, female

I am Leia! I was one of the foster pups who were affected by HRA's mass firing on March 5. My foster mom temporarily adopted me and I can continue to look for my forever family under my foster's mom's care.

Here is what my foster says about me:
Leia is very human attentive and is good with dogs and cats. She's taken good correction from my dog. She likes to walk and snuggle. She is food motivated and currently working on her crate training skills!
Dogs: Yes, needs slow intro.
Cats: Yes, needs slow intro.

London

4 years old, 60 lbs, male

I am London! I was one of the foster pups who were affected by HRA's mass firing on March 5. My foster mom temporarily adopted me and I can continue to look for my forever family under my foster's mom's care.

Here is what my foster says about me:
London is just about the perfect dog for any adopter. Got another dog? London will sniff them politely, give them a bit of space, and - once they know each other - roll over on top of them and rest his head on their butts. Got adult humans? London will be in their laps, soaking in the love as soon as you get him home. Got kids? Not to worry, with London around their faces will stay thoroughly washed. We're not sure how he would do with cats but we expect he could learn to live with them, with proper introduction.

Machu

2 years old, 44 lbs, male

I am Machu. I was one of the foster pups who were affected by HRA's mass firing on March 5. My foster mom temporarily adopted me and I can continue to look for my forever family under my foster's mom's care.

My baby face may fool you, but I am 2 years old. Everyone tells me how handsome I am and that I always seem to be happy.

Tennis balls were my favorite toys in the shelter, but in my foster home I love the bones I am given even more.

I have been told that I walk well very well on a loose leash! I can also do some tricks on command.

Appollo

1 year old,  49 lbs, male

FIVE MONTHS! I spent five months being stressed and doing vertical jumping in a shelter kennel. It only took a week for my wonderful temp foster mom to show the world what a sweet boy I am in a home environment and now I am in my long-term foster and potential adoptive home (fingers crossed)!

Fostering literally saves lives! If you can, please help foster a shelter dog in need!

Egg

11 months old, 86 lbs, male

I have some very exciting news to share with everyone! I am so happy that my foster family rescued me from the cold and lonely shelter. Please wish me luck!

Hopefully my good manners, looks, and charm will help me get adopted! I do not want to have to return to the shelter.

Cider

3 years old, 46 lbs, female

Hello! I am currently away from the shelter and living at my foster home. I love going on long walks and hope that we can go on a stroll together. The lovely volunteers haven taken me to the Arboretum. I got lots of pets on the adventure because I was well-behaved.

My favorite part of being at the shelter were the weekends when the lovey volunteers took me on trail walks in Rock Creek Park. I loved the car rides there and all the incredible smells.

I am currently away from the shelter on an adoption test drive, so please wish me luck!
