Pups in Foster

Scuttle

1 year old, 69 lbs, male

As a young pup, I was struggling in the shelter being left alone in my kennel for the most of the time. It is so nice to be in a foster home where I can decompress and just be a happy pup. I hope all my friends who are still in the shelter can find a foster home soon as well!

Wow! It is so good to be in a foster home! I have a warm bed to sleep in. The place is so peaceful and quiet. I can finally decompress a bit here!

I was in the shelter when the ground was still covered by snow! I finally got into a foster home! It is so good that I can take a nap in a quiet environment!

Carter

1 year old, male

Carter is as loyal a companion you’ll ever get. His favorite activities include keeping you company while you do literally anything, running after a ball in the backyard or a park, meeting new dog and human friends, enjoying a pup cup, and generally being the most handsome low-to-the-ground dude. He has had a rough go at life. His initial owner had to give him up due to no fault of his own. Since then, he’s had a string of failed adoptions and now finds himself in a foster home with a dog brother. He’s reported to be great with kids. Carter is wishing for a forever family who will make his dreams of being deeply loved come true.

Need to overcome: Carter needs to work on his separation anxiety. He is a smart boy, so we know with the help of a patient family, he will learn and do well!

Oh man. I have been in the shelter since it was still cold! Now after so many heat waves, I finally got out of the shelter and found myself landed in a super nice foster home! I hope I will find my family soon! In the meantime, I will be busy learning all the good doggo manners from my foster mom!

I am finally out of my kennel! My awesome foster mom rescued me from the shelter and has been taking me on hikes and letting me hang out with all her cool friends! This is so much better for a high- energy pup like me. Are you looking for a hiking buddy? I am your guy!!!

Hi friends! I am a sweet girl waiting for my forever family to find me while hanging out with my foster parent :) I am deaf so I won't hear my forever family when they are out looking for me. If you hear them, can you tell them how to find me?

I am a sweet girl who is very thankful to be with my foster family. As you probably tell from my smile, I am a very happy girl. One of my favorite activities is chasing a tennis ball.

Machu

2 years old, 44 lbs, male

I am Machu. I was one of the foster pups who were affected by HRA's mass firing on March 5. My foster mom temporarily adopted me and I can continue to look for my forever family under my foster's mom's care.

My baby face may fool you, but I am 2 years old. Everyone tells me how handsome I am and that I always seem to be happy.

Tennis balls were my favorite toys in the shelter, but in my foster home I love the bones I am given even more.

I have been told that I walk well very well on a loose leash! I can also do some tricks on command.

FIVE MONTHS! I spent five months being stressed and doing vertical jumping in a shelter kennel. It only took a week for my wonderful temp foster mom to show the world what a sweet boy I am in a home environment and now I am in my long-term foster and potential adoptive home (fingers crossed)!

Fostering literally saves lives! If you can, please help foster a shelter dog in need!

I have some very exciting news to share with everyone! I am so happy that my foster family rescued me from the cold and lonely shelter. Please wish me luck!

Hopefully my good manners, looks, and charm will help me get adopted! I do not want to have to return to the shelter.

My favorite part of being at the shelter were the weekends when the lovey volunteers took me on trail walks in Rock Creek Park. I loved the car rides there and all the incredible smells.

I am currently away from the shelter on an adoption test drive, so please wish me luck!
